For this project, I wanted to show my hand in designing cover art, packaging, and merchandise for a music artist releasing a new album. I had the idea of mixing graffiti art with a summertime-fun vintage punk rock aesthetic and this is what I've come up with. Each album has to be unique in some ways. When I think of a music artist, I think of the total packaging, along with merchandise for the artists fans to acquire. These things to me makes for a way to build a relationship with your fans and to maybe gain new fans along the way. Everything you see hear is all original work from me and it all was done entirely in photoshop. The photos on the cover art and the poster are original photos from my photography of a previous trip I took to Los Angeles. Some of the stickers I used on the covers were purchased, while others where found on the internet.
For the album, I wanted to take people back to the 80s - early 2000s where all new music releases came with a poster that fans could post on their bedroom walls as the listened. The photo to the upper-left is a photo from my photography archive at the Santa Monica Pier that I took on a previous trip to Los Angeles. I chose to use the plastic zip-lock bag to give the vintage comic-book feel which would be used to preserve the artwork /poster.
This T-shirt idea, I developed for the album art. I call it "Heart of a loser". This was also created in photoshop.
